Meet Catherine

Catherine is a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association and a certified Unified Mindfulness Teacher living and working in Canberra. She brings a non-judgemental and encouraging approach to her counselling and mindfulness coaching. As a lifelong 'over-thinker' herself, Catherine has found immense relief and profound transformation through mindfulness-based approaches. She loves sharing practice and helping people integrate mindfulness into their daily lives.

In addition to a Master of Counselling from the University of Canberra, Catherine has a Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Deakin University; and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Psychology major), both from the University of Melbourne.
Before shifting careers, Catherine spent an enriching two decades working in public policy with the Australian Government. This included overseas postings; work in Ministerial offices; and leading policy development on issues relating to migrant and refugee settlement, multicultural policy and social cohesion.

Catherine is also a volunteer Crisis Supporter for Lifeline, Australia’s suicide prevention hotline.
Learning to train your attention through mindfulness practice is one of the best investments you can make in life. Everyday Clarity offers a range of counselling and mindfulness coaching services to help you alleviate stress and uncover more ease and freedom.
What to expect
Everyday Clarity brings therapy to you. Wherever you are in Australia, receive support with online counselling and mindfulness coaching.
Traditional Counselling (60-minute sessions)
Catherine is there to listen to you and help you express and address what is troubling you. She will ask questions to support you in understanding your current life challenges, your thoughts, feelings and reactions and how these might be getting in the way of the person you want to be and the kind of life you want to lead.
Guided by your goals and preferences, Catherine takes a person-centered and integrative approach to counselling. As well as drawing on various mindfulness approaches, Catherine often weaves in complementary elements of other evidence-based therapies, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Mindfulness Coaching (60-minute sessions)
You will receive personalised guidance to establish a regular routine (or optimise an existing mindfulness practice). The focus is on increasing mastery with a range of different techniques and gaining confidence to deal with the common pitfalls that arise, as well as maximising the many benefits.

While drawing from a range of different approaches, the foundation of Catherine's coaching is the Unified Mindfulness system designed by Shinzen Young. Unified Mindfulness is a systematic approach to attention training that is easily researchable by science with clear terminology and rigorous precision around concepts and procedures. Learn more about Unified Mindfulness.

The Blended Approach (90-minute sessions)
Designed for those wanting to experience the best of both worlds, this is a bespoke offering that allows counselling clients to dive deeper into the benefits of mindfulness. Catherine blends traditional talk therapy with formal, science-backed mindfulness training to provide relief from anxiety and stress and help you meet your happiness goals.

Learning and practising with these tools is a core part of each session. In a safe and encouraging environment, you will learn to develop a different relationship with challenging thoughts and emotions, practising in real time to meet them as they arise. Sessions are longer than a standard counselling session to allow ample time to practice your newly developed skills without compromising the space for therapeutic work.
